It is easy to open Zaurus. There are no hidden screws and even screws to unscrew are cleanly marked. Only few sizes of screws are used.
Zaurus has a nice PCB design. Nearly all unused pins (GPIOs, SCOOP GPIOs, unused sound channels, USB, serial) are wired to a soldering pads, so any hardware hacker can easily use it for any purpose.
If you are interested in parts specifications, you can check my collection of datasheets.
